In 2008, STRICTLY CASH played in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison, commemorating the 40th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s famous Folsom Prison concert, and for which he penned the song “Mountjoy”, in the style of the Man in Black.
Another song of his, “I’m An American” has been recorded by top USA Johnny Cash tribute, Terry Lee Goffee.
Ten years later, they marked the 50th anniversary of Folsom by playing 3 sell-out shows on Ireland’s Alcatraz, Spike Prison Island, in Cork Harbour. Another highlight for STRICTLY CASH was headlining Europe’s first Johnny Cash Festival, in Austria.
Barry has met and chatted with Johnny Cash & June Carter on numerous occasions. A regular performer in Austria and Germany, Barry has also performed at the Carter Family Fold in Virginia, and with Tommy Cash, (Johnny’s brother), at the Storytellers Museum, Bon Aqua, Tennessee.
